On the first night of Turbonegro's sold-out shows at the Mercury Lounge, some douche bag in the audience pelted lead singer Hank von Helvete with a beer bottle. The set list was culled mainly from Ass Cobra and Apocalypse Dudes, but one song from their new album Scandinavian Leather made an appearance – "Sell Your Body (To the Night)" was dubbed "Turbonegro's version of a fiscal plan for the future." Throughout the night, Cricien profusely and sincerely thanked all the kids and "old-school ...

NY Rock is proud to present an extra-radical pop-punk edition of NY Rock Confidential. New York City's hot-rod hooligans, the Rumblers Car Club, presented a night of rock 'n' roll at Northsix in Brooklyn featuring I Farm, Bantam, the Star Spangles, and Manda and the Marbles. Finally, the valley girl woes have a new poster girl: Manda Marble.

The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players are the latest hot, ubiquitous trio in New York City. Tina operates the slide projector and the live music is provided by Jason (keyboards/guitar) and Rachel, who both share vocal duties. With classic rock slowly on the rise, this band is radio ready; each song had a definitive hook rooted in psych-rock, alt-country, or full-on guitar rock a la the Who.

Penny Arcade, New York City's legendary crotchety performance artist with Betty Page bangs. Penny witnessed the whole over-the-top revolution of punk rock in New York City in the 1970s. Taking the stage in a red-plaid skirt, black tights, and black t-shirt, Penny danced around, jumping to the rock music blaring over the sound system.

The Kit Kat boys and girls play fierce tunes while showing you what they'...

I was invited to see Ancel, of Ancel and the Electric Church, perform at Don Hill's. But on July 1st, Ancel took the stage accompanied by a bottle of Jack Daniels and guitar. Ancel's flawless guitar playing combined with his sultry bluesy rock-and-roll voice would make any girl gush.

Tuuli from Toronto rocks CBGB! Several months ago, while I was online visiting a bunch of band Web sites, I found this great female band called Tuuli from Toronto. I told Jenny that I had just left my band and worked as a freelance writer for a women's Web site called coolgrrrls.com (this was before I started with NY Rock).
