Pamela Anderson's PamTV and beer.com Launch Jam with Pam
Online Music Contest Gives Unsigned Bands a Chance to Play at the Rolling Rock Town Fair
March 15, 2001 Getting the big break just got easier thanks to Jam with Pam, an online music contest launched today to find the best unsigned band in North America. Jam with Pam is a collaboration of Pamela Anderson's Internet production company PamTV, and beer.com. The contest can be found at www.jamwithpam.com, which is hosted by beer.com.
About the contest, Pamela Anderson says, "Everyone at PamTV was in agreement that this could be an incredible showcase opportunity for unknown bands. So we hooked up with beer.com to make it happen. Why not? Everyone could use a little help."
The Jam with Pam winner will perform at the Rolling Rock Town Fair this August, and will have a CD professionally produced. In 2000, the Rolling Rock Town Fair, held in Latrobe, PA, was headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and attracted a sold-out crowd of 35,000.
Bands can submit an MP3 file of their best song to www.jamwithpam.com from March 15 - June 30, 2001. Music lovers are invited to log on, listen to great tunes and vote for their favorites. Three qualifying rounds will take place over three months and each round will produce a "Six Pack" of songs from which Pamela will select one to go to the final round. In July, Pamela, with help from a panel of celebrities, will select a champ. All bands must be unsigned, free of legal claim to their work and band members must be over the legal drinking age.
Just for voting, one music lover of legal drinking age will be chosen to attend the Rolling Rock Town Fair, all expenses paid, and accompany the winning band to their recording session in Los Angeles, California.
President of beer.com, Aidan Tracey says, "Beer.com is really pumped to be working with Pamela and her production company PamTV. Pamela has a passion for music and a desire to help new talent. Jam with Pam is a truly authentic battle of the bands program."
Jam with Pam is an evolution of beer.com's music contest held last year. Over 1,000 MP3 files were uploaded as bands vied for a chance to win a three-city tour, which included a performance at the Labatt Blueline Concert Series that featured Kid Rock in Toronto, Canada. The 2000 winner, Since August (formerly Even), signed a recording contract with Loggerhead Records days after their win.
