Unsigned Band, Accidental Superhero Beat Out Linkin Park and Jimmy Eat World on the Charts
July 18, 2002 Accidental Superhero, a band unaffiliated with either a major or an independent label, has logged an impressive 215,495 downloads on the internet music site MP3.com. The group's infectious pop song
"Miss You like Crazy" reached #2 on the pop music charts and #4 on the Top 40 Charts, beating out chart behemoths Linkin Park, Jimmy Eat World, and Vanessa Carlton.
The independent band -- Jonathan Kuiper (vocals), Sean Muholland (bass), Chris Willard (guitar), Jeff Woods (drums) -- has
managed to generate the remarkable interest in its music without a national publicity campaign and only a meager promotional budget. What the Colorado music scene has known for quite a while is spreading like wildfire around the rest of the country. And that is, Accidental Superhero play songs that people enjoy. They routinely sell out shows all over the Rocky Mountain region and recently opened up for rock legends Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth when their tour stopped in Denver. They have also been slated to open for Lenny Kravitz.
The band is ready to expand their horizons beyond
the Rocky Mountains and showcase in New York City.
New York dates include:
Thursday, August 15 at CBGB's @ 315 Bowery between 1st and 2nd Streets
Friday, August 16 at B.B. King Blues Club @ 237 West 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.
